Creating a Blog is the fastest and easiest way to start your business

and get it off the ground.

Follow these simple steps to get it all started:

1.   Find your niche:

What is it that interests you?  What are you passionate about?  Is there an audience for it and it is something that other people will be able to relate to?

2.   Purchase a Domain Name:

You need to decide on a business name that relates to the content you will be blogging about.  Try to find something that will only relate to you so it doesn’t get confused with somebody else’s identity.  The Domain name is your business name – mine is ‘thehappyhousemum.com’.  You need to then register it in order to use it with your website/blog.  I used “Go Daddy” to do this.  It is easy to set up and reasonably priced.  https://nz.godaddy.com/

3.  Find your Host Provider:

The Host Provider is where your website address will live. They provide different templates for you to choose from and provide system maintenance.  My blog, The Happy House Mum, is hosted by Kalatu Premium which has added features and settings available but the standard Kalatu is also a very good product and is very easy to use.   They both have amazing set up videos to use and have great on-line support.  You will also need to Link your Domain up to your Host Provider site too so when somebody types in your business name it will automatically open your website.  There are step by step videos of how to do this in both Kalatu Premium and Kalatu.

4.  Choose your Template:

Take your time to pick the template that best suits you.  These can always be changed at any time but changing it could possibly change some of the settings you originally set up, and it could possibly make it a little harder for regular visitors to your blog to find their way around.  You can personalize the templates quite a bit to suit your needs.  I use Kalatu Premium which has a few more options available than Kalatu but both are great & easy to set up.

5.  Start Blogging:

You are now ready to start Blogging.  I recommend having a few posts on your blog before you publish it to make it look a little established.  Make sure your posts have content that people can relate to or will find useful themselves.  While it is a good idea to be blogging every day, if people don’t like it then there is no point.  If people like what you share and talk about, then they are more likely to share your information and talk about it!  It is quality rather than quantity that matters.  I find Kalatu & Kalatu Premium help with blogging ideas & titles if you get stuck

6.  Get your name out there:

Using other social media outlets like Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Pinterest & Twitter is a great way to get people engaging on your posts and spread the word about your website.  Never underestimate the power of social media marketing.  Whatever you decide to do make sure it is able to be viewed on a mobile phone as everybody uses them and it allows people to keep up and follow you no matter where they are.

Your now ready to Blog your heart out.  Have fun and be creative.
